Lucy is a member of ADEA (Australian Diabetes Educators Association), and holds a status through them as a Credentialed Diabetes Educator. She is also a member of ISPAD (International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes) and the Australian Diabetes Council.

Lucy has presented case studies and sat on expert panels at several Paediatric Outreach meetings, which are held annually, she has attended 4 ADEA annual scientific meetings, been a discussion panel member for ADEA insulin pump projects, attended ISPAD meeting twice previously (2010 South Africa, 2012 Istanbul and 2014 Canada).  As her main area of interest is in insulin pump therapy, Lucy proposes to engage in research on this topic with a focus on improving patient outcomes and diabetes control.

• Qualified as a paediatric nurse in 1997 through University of Reading, England, UK in 1997
• Completed BA(Hons) in Community Health Studies through University of Reading, England, UK in 2001
• Completed post-grad diploma in diabetes through University of Birmingham, England, UK in 2004
• Worked in a variety of paediatric settings during this time including medical and surgical wards, neonatal intensive care unit, children’s outpatients and as a Children’s Community Nurse, visiting acutely sick children and caring for them in their homes
• Moved to Australia in 2005 and took up a post within the diabetes service at Sydney Children’s Hospital, where she has been lead nurse since 2007
• Completed Masters of Nursing through University of Newcastle 2009
• Became an Endorsed Nurse Practitioner 2011
• Certified Insulin Pump trainer experienced in Medtronic, Animas and Roche insulin pumps

• Interests outside medicine: travel, watching rugby, good food and wine and most importantly: flying trapeze
